Sustainable Development

McKenzie Properties is committed to sustainable construction and facility management. Currently, McKenzie Construction is building one of the first green retail buildings in the state of Nevada, as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council’s L.E.E.D. rating system. L.E.E.D. stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” and is the benchmark in green building standards. We are committed to building all future developments to the L.E.E.D. green building standard.
 

In our industrial properties, we are using energy efficient T-5 lighting in all new tenant improvement construction. Our tenants directly benefit by saving over 40% on their energy bills versus metal halide lighting.

In our full service office buildings, we utilize sustainable janitorial practices that include HEPA filtered vacuums and non-toxic, Green Seal Certified janitorial products. In all new tenant improvement construction, we use zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint, energy efficient window shades, and energy efficient lighting. There are many benefits to having superior indoor air quality, such as reduced absenteeism and higher employee productivity.
